Selecting The Wood For Your Timber Frame

One of the first decisions you will make is what type of wood to use. The most commonly used woods are hemlock, white pine, oak and Douglas fir. Hemlock is by far the most inexpensive wood. It is also durable, stable and unlike some other woods the dimensions can be kept standard. It is available in our region which helps keep costs at a minimum. The other species are mainly used in custom homes, and normally priced much higher.
